GFCI installation and replacement

GFCI protection shuts off power in a fraction of a second when current goes where it shouldn’t — including through a person. It’s required in wet areas for good reason. We install, replace and test GFCI devices so they actually protect you.

Overview

GFCI outlets wear out, and a failed one can look perfectly normal while providing no protection at all. We test existing devices, replace the ones that fail, and add protection where it’s missing: kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry areas, outdoor outlets and anywhere near water.

We’ll also track down the “mystery” GFCI that protects outlets in another room, so you know where to reset it next time.

Common questions

Why does my GFCI keep tripping?

It’s usually detecting real leakage — from a worn appliance cord, moisture in an outdoor box, or a wiring fault. Sometimes the device itself has failed. Testing tells us which.

Where is GFCI protection required?

Bathrooms, kitchens, garages, outdoors, laundry areas and near sinks, among other locations. Requirements have expanded over the years, so older homes often have gaps — we’ll point them out.
